The other day David A left this comment on our blog:

you know why i love your blog? because every time i get sad that it's been a full month since obama's inauguration, i can visit your website and relive the historic experience as though it happened yesterday!

Well David, we were doing it just to keep your heart happy, but I'm afraid we can't hold out forever. I've resisted. I've stalled. But the time has come for another post.

Since Elliott's parents live in New York City we visit fairly regularly, and the last few visits have been a bit passive and lazy. But two weekends ago we went to NYC with C & L (pictured below), neither of whom had been since they were pretty young, so it gave us a fresh excuse to get out in the city.

We walked the Brooklyn Bridge.

We stood in a line in the cold for over an hour just to get some Grimaldi's. And it was worth it. Hype or no, that's some GOOD pizza.

We went to the Natural History Museum (but we didn't see Ben Stiller OR Owen Wilson OR any freaky Egyptian tablets).

We stood in a line in the cold for over an hour to get Broadway tickets. We saw Mary Poppins and I felt 8 again (in a good way).

We rode tandem bicycles in Central Park.

We stood in a line in the cold for a mere 20 minutes to get our yearly dose of red meat a la Shake Shack burgers. (No offense to you West Coasters, but...it's got In and Out beat.)

Yes, that WAS a deliciously snarky comment wasn't it? :)

I was quite proud!

(also, i'm not the david above, i've never been to Grimaldi's. but after looking at that photo i'm acutely regretting that.)

Don't worry, we're keeping the Davids straight.

Just think--if you took a job in, say, Washington DC, you could take weekend trips to eat Grimaldi's too! Much more difficult from the frozen wasteland of the north.

The next week we took Peter and Joel to the Shake Shack on the West side. We got to eat inside and sitting down and it was really good! Thanks for inspiring us.
